We are delighted to announce that our Senior Paralegal, Nadia Camilli, has been awarded Accredited Paralegal Status from The Law Society of Scotland.
How does the Accreditation process work?
Applicants must have several years’ experience as a Paralegal, working under a supervising Solicitor and within the chosen area of specialism. They must demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas for their chosen practice area by demonstrating understanding and awareness of the area of law in which they seek Accreditation.
You must be able to evidence your practice where necessary and be prepared to evidence these high standards. Once you are confident that you meet all specified competencies, an application can be made via The Law Society with details of the supporting Solicitor.
A special Committee considers the application, and if successful – Accreditation is granted. A result could also be rejection, or re-submission in few months’ time once the competencies threshold is met.
What does this Accreditation mean, and how does it benefit the team and our clients?
Being recognised as an Accredited Paralegal gives professional recognition through a recognised body, such as the Scottish Paralegal Association/Law Society of Scotland.
From a personal perspective, it is a recognition of skill and dedication over the years. From a business point of view, it gives the Client reassurance and confidence that all work on their claim will be carried out to a high standard. Oakwood Scotland Solicitors aims to have all staff Accredited, helping us to stand out from other firms in the Legal sector.

Nadia reflects on her achievement:
“I am pleased to have obtained my Accreditation. I feel it is a true recognition of my skill, abilities and client handling skills that I have developed over the past two decades.
“I believe in high standards, clear communication, and putting the client first, and I feel that the standards required for Accreditation are a reflection of my own personal practice.
“Oakwood Scotland Solicitors has helped me to achieve this too, and as much as it is a personal achievement and goal, it is also a recognition of the hard work and professionalism of Oakwood Scotland Solicitors.”
Solicitor and Director of Oakwood Scotland Solicitors, Alastair Cameron, added:
“Nadia’s achievement comes after many years of dedication to Personal Injury work and always acting in the best interests of the client.
“This is a much-coveted accreditation. It requires that you meet the exacting standards of the Law Society of Scotland’s judgement panel. From hundreds of applications per year there is but a modest handful that make the grade, so a huge well-done to her.”
